Coding Camp for Teens
Python is a versatile, modern programming language that you can use to write an app, build a website, analyze data, control a robot or even build a self driving car. Join us for this fun and interactive class to learn the basics of Python that you can use to design graphics, build games and work with STEM subjects like cryptography, biology, science, AI and robotics. If you have a cool idea, you can use Python to build it.
You will learn to:
- Write simple programs in Python – which is a powerful modern computer programming language
- Draw graphics such as the ones you see on this page
- Design simple games like Hangman and 20 Questions
- Solve interesting and fun puzzles and problems
- Experience the power of writing programs to make computers perform tasks for you
- Develop computational thinking skills
- Discover the pleasure of finding things out by exploring interesting problems through programs you write
Prerequisites:
No prior computer or programming knowledge required. Familiarity with a computer and typing is helpful. Twelve library laptops will be available on a first come, first serve basis, so please try to bring your own device if possible.
About the Instructor:
Dr. Varghese John (VJ) is an experienced technologist with extensive scientific resarch experience and a love for learning and teaching science, technology and mathematics. He has led large global technology teams delivering innovative solutions to complex problems for leading financial service organizations. VJ is passionate about STEM education has worked with people from diverse backgrounds enabling them to discover a love for learning and helping them achieve their educational goals.
