Description
Portrait drawing class with Hodaya Louis
An in-depth look at portrait drawing, including key proportions, line quality, shading techniques, and capturing the eyes. Classes will include demos and drawing time, with option of feedback and class critique. Questions are encouraged. Class is aimed for adults - beginners and current artists.
Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:30 pm
Thursday, Aug 5: Class 1. Drawing the face 101 - face diagram, fundamental proportions and rules.
Thursday, Aug 19: Class 2. Drawing techniques - Eyes and lips: shading and highlighting.
Thursday, Sep 2: Class 3. Drawing after the masters.
What’s needed:
White drawing Paper size 8” by 10” or bigger. Printer paper letter size for draft, or any sketch pad.
Graphite pencils (HB, 2B, optional softer pencils such as 6B)
Eraser, sharpener
Optional:
Ruler
Pocket mirror
Presenter: multidisciplinary artist currently living and working in Katonah NY, Hodaya Louis (B. 1981, Israel) is influenced by her Orthodox upbringing, multi-cultural background, and training in fashion design. Her work explores the female narrative and its abstraction, seeking an emotive response to color and movement. Awarded "Distinguished artist of Israel", Louis exhibited at The Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art and Society Of Illustrators Museum in NYC. Her art was selected for the Garment District Banners and has been commissioned for the Tribeca Featured Film “Egg” (2018), as well as numerous commercial projects and private collections. She has also been featured in Architectural Digest, Insider, W Magazine, and Brides Magazine.
