Description
Unfiltered: Beyond the Reel is an expressive writing-based teen support group designed to help girls navigate the pressures of social media, friend group dynamics, and self-image in a world that often feels like it demands perfection. In this four-week journey, participants will engage in powerful writing exercises, open discussions, and real, unfiltered connections that go beyond the highlight reel of social media. This is a space where teens can safely explore their thoughts, struggles, and aspirations—without judgment—while building confidence, self-acceptance, and resilience. Together, we’ll challenge unrealistic beauty standards, unpack the impact of digital culture, and discover the power of authentic self-expression in a supportive, encouraging environment.
About the facilitator:
Terri Dierkes, MSW (Candidate), is a clinical intern at Catholic Charities and the creator of Unfiltered: Beyond the Reel. With a background in expressive writing, mental health, and group facilitation, she is passionate about helping teens break through the pressures of social media and find their voice. Terri’s approach is rooted in research-backed expressive writing techniques, fostering a space where teens feel seen, heard, and empowered to embrace their unique identities.
Please note parents/guardians will be sent a consent form to sign in advance of the first session.
