Virtual Art Class: Self Portrait in the Mirror with Hodaya Louis
Wednesday, January 5 and January 12, 2022 from 1-4pm

Following the success of artist Hodaya Louis' Summer 2021 portrait drawing course, we have invited her back to dig deeper with all of our artist friends and explore the self portrait in the mirror. Hodaya will be teaching two intensive sessions in January, three hours each for two consecutive Wednesdays. Please register.

This is a virtual event. You will be sent the Zoom link the day of the program.

Materials:
graphite pencils or sticks - HB and softer such as 4B & 8B
blending stump
paper towel or chamois for blending
kneaded eraser
sketching paper size 11" by 14" or larger
set up in front of a mirror or tabletop mirror

Hodaya Louis is an interdisciplinary artist who works with paintings, drawings, assemblages, and film. Her visual language and interests are rooted in her Orthodox upbringing, multi-cultural background, music, and fashion design training.

Notable exhibitions include The Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, CADAF + Mana Contemporary Virtual Open House, and The Society of Illustrators Museum in NYC. Recipient of the "Distinguished Artist of Israel" grant (2010) and winner of the "Next Generation Design Award" by Luxottica Group (2009). Four-time finalist at the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series (2015-1018).

Louis's artwork has appeared on the official banners of the New York Garment District (2018). She created a mural for the Tribeca Featured Film "Egg" (2018) and participated in "Sing For Hope" public Piano Project (2015). Her work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Insider, W Magazine, and Brides Magazine. Louis serves as a guest judge and speaker at The Fashion Institute of Technology, where she received her BFA in 2010.
