Program Description

Description

In 2009, a new digital currency called Bitcoin was created based on ideas published by an unknown person using the name Satoshi Nakomoto. From this innocuous and mysterious birth, Bitcoins have flourished. As with all currencies, there have been booms and busts in its value, stories of great riches made by Bitcoin miners and investors, concerns about ethics and legality of this new currency and so much more.

What we will discuss:

  • What is money? Where does it get its value from?
  • How does a digital currency work?
  • What is Bitcoin and Blockchain?
  • What exactly are Bitcoin miners mining?
  • What should I consider if I want to invest in Bitcoin?

Who is this talk for? This talk is designed for anyone with a curious mind who wants to explore this new and rapidly growing subject.
