At times, a business owner may need to secure additional financing for business startup costs, for expanding or growing the business, or for helping a business get through a tough spot. This panel will provide insights on the options available as well as the pros and cons of pursuing these options from standard loans to alternatives.

Presenters:

Patrick Lorent, Frank Alvarado, Dennis Brown and Frederick L. Welk Jr.

Patrick Lorent has 29 years of experience in the Commercial Lending Industry. He is Vice President and Manager of the Peoples United Bank Government Lending Department.

Frank Alvarado is the Senior Area Manager/Veterans Affairs Officer for the SBA CT District Office. Frank has worked with Small Businesses both in the private and public sectors.

Dennis Brown is a Business Consultant who works with people looking to start up their own business or grow the one that they have.

Fred Welk, Jr. is Director of Business Education & Communications, Community Economic Development Fund. He has served as a business advisor for the organization’s clients for the past five years before recently taking on additional duties for education and marketing for CEDF.
