Program Description

Description

Magical Mermaids and their families are invited to don their beautiful tails and join us for a seaside adventure at the Library! Author/illustrator Jessica Love will be visiting to read her award-winning picture book Julián is a Mermaid. While she is here, Love will teach us how to draw a beautiful mermaid tail. We will then make our own fabric tails and parade them around the Library with the author. To continue the fun, stop by the Children’s Room for more mermaid-inspired games, crafts and activities. This event is part of our Stonewall 50 program series celebrating Pride in our community.

All ages are invited to attend. Registration is recommended but not required.

Jessica Love is the author and illustrator of Julián is a Mermaid, published by Candlewick Press. She studied printmaking and illustration at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and then went on to study acting at Juilliard. Jessica received the Stonewall Book Award in 2019 for Julián is a Mermaid.
