Description
Within the world of string instruments, the violin, viola and cello each has its own distinct voice and capabilities. Join award-winning chamber musicians Katie Lansdale, Rosemary Nelis and Samuel DeCaprio in exploring what magical sounds these instruments create, both alone and in combination. Movements from Bach's Cello Suites offer ballast, gravitas and nobility. Britten's Elegy for viola offers unforgettable lament. Simon's Between Worlds for violin relates a riveting, desperate dance. Viola and cello combine in a new duo by Paul Wiancko, cellist of the Kronos Quartet. Finally, the program culminates in the expansive delights of Beethoven's Serenade Op.8 for string trio. Don't miss this extraordinary exploration of sound and strings!
