Description
The Bruce S. Kershner Art Gallery Committee invites you to a reception for its current exhibit, Flyway of Life: Love Letters to the Natural World featuring wildlife photography by local artist Tomas Koeck. The artist will speak at 6:00pm and refreshments will be served.
Tomas Koeck is a Fairfield native and an award-winning filmmaker, photographer, and expeditionist. The "flyway of life" refers to bird migration along the Atlantic flyway, although Koeck has photographed a variety of creatures from great gray owls to great white sharks. An avid environmentalist, he is on the board of directors of the Connecticut Audubon Society and has been endorsed by the Society as an ethical nature photographer. About his art, Tomas says "What I [have] discovered as a natural history photographer is that nature is not an escape; rather, it is a way to connect with the world around us...Nature can connect people, too. I want anyone looking at my photos to know that the imagery you see is available for you to find and observe as well...Immerse yourself in our planet--there are so many beautiful things to see!"
Flyway of Life will be on view during regular Main Library hours from April 5 - May 31, 2025.
See Tomas Koeck's related film, Flyway of Life, at the SHU Community Theatre in Fairfield on April 22. Tickets available through the SHU website: https://shucommunitytheatre.showare.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=283 The film will be preceded by a reception at Main Library from 5:00-6:30pm.
