Description

The Bruce S. Kershner Art Gallery Committee at Fairfield Public Library invites the public to a reception for its new show, Dynamic Expressions, from 5:30-7:30pm on Thursday, August 8.  The show features the work of Cindy Bernier and Michael Parchment, and will run from August 3 to September 28, 2024 during regular Library hours. The artists will speak at the reception at 6:00pm, and light refreshments will be served.

Cindy Bernier’s artwork reflects her career as a dancer and choreographer. An early member of Joyce Trisler’s Danscompany, she performed and served as artistic director of Kinetikos, New England Dance Theater and Bernier Dance, where she created over 30 works. In 2017 she began to translate her years of dance experience into painting.  Cindy says, "I love exploring paint as movement on canvas – the brush strokes, color, patterns, and texture connect me to movement dynamics, emotional and spiritual states."

Michael Parchment was born in England and is now a Naugatuck resident. He is a graduate of Paier College of Art in Hamden, Connecticut and also studied at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston Jamaica, West Indies.  He worked in publishing for many years as a graphic designer and art director and continues to freelance.  Michael works with acrylics, pastels, and colored pencils on canvas and with watercolor on a crush paper technique.  He says, "I want my painting to take you on a journey of peace, harmony, love, light and happiness."
