Program Description

Greenfield Hill Garden Club and The Friends of the Fairfield Public Library present Susan Allport, author of Sermons In Stone:  The Stone Walls of New England and New York.

Sermons in Stone is the surprising and fascinating social history of the stone walls of New England and New York from the earliest fences by the colonists to the current day.

Allport is an award-winning writer specializing in science, travel, and food. Her books include The Queen of Fats; The Primal Feast; A Natural History of Parenting; Sermons in Stone; and Explorers of the Black Box. She became interested in stone walls when she bought a property in Westchester County that was divided by stone walls.

The Fairfield Public Library reserves the right to utilize photographs or video taken at the library for future library publications or other library publicity.  All library patrons consent to the use of their photo/video taken at the library or during library events for such purposes.  If a patron does not wish to be photographed/videoed, the patron must notify the library staff to that effect.
