Program Description

Description

Fairfield residents, Bonnie Liang and Hannah Choi, owners of BonnaH Co Fiber Arts are back with another fun fiber arts class for our Take & Make series. This time they'll be teaching a workshop on Visible Mending. If your clothes have holes in them, there's no need to toss them! Mending will save your clothes from ending up in the incinerator and you'll save money!

This Take & Make Workshop is open to all skill levels. The class will introduce various styles of mending and teach one method of visible mending - using a patch! Most supplies and tools needed to mend an item of clothing will be provided before the class. You will need to supply your own sharp scissors and ruler. If you have an item of clothing you'd like to mend, please bring it to class. If you do not, no worries! You'll still learn the technique which you can use at a later time. If you are new to hand sewing, we recommend starting with mending a hole in a pair of jeans or pants.

Registration is required and registrants will need to attend the Zoom meeting for instruction. Kits will be available for pick-up on Friday, October 15. Registrants will also need to know how to thread a needle and tie a knot at the end of a length of thread. Instructional videos for these skills will be provided in the confirmation emails and should be watched and practiced before class. The class will be taught live via Zoom by both Bonnie and Hannah! The Zoom meeting will be recorded so registrants can refer back at any time .

Kits will be available for pick up on Friday, October 15, 2021 between 10am and 4:30pm, if you can not make this date please let Jessica know (jstevens@fplct.org or 203-254-5108) in order to arrange an alternate pickup time.
