Program Description

Description

Welcome Spring! The Fairfield Public Library has been awarded a Resilient Communities grant from the American Library Association. As part of the grant and to help celebrate Spring, the Fairfield Woods Branch Seed to Seed Library is giving out packets of seeds along with an Upcycled Carton Planter Take & Make. The Seed to Seed Library catalog has been growing, thanks to seed donations and the Resilient Communities grant, but we still need your help to revamp our goals and spread the word.

Every registered patron will "borrow" a packet of seeds. The "borrowed" seeds are lent to you in hope that you will enjoy gardening and picking the fruits of your hard labor. At harvest time, please take some extra steps to save seeds for others. We’d like you to return, to the library, a portion of the seeds you have saved. The more seeds in the library, the more members or community can experience the pleasures of growing their own food from local seeds.

Don't forget to also register for the Virtual program :  "What Should I Grow in My Medicinal Herb Garden?" on April 21, 2021 hosted by the Grounded Goodwife. https://fplct.librarymarket.com/events/virtual-what-should-i-grow-my-medicinal-herb-garden (tip: there will be more seeds lent out!)

Register to pick up your Upcycled Carton Planter Take & Make kit to take home with you and on Friday, April 23, 2021 we can craft together via Zoom, a virtual meeting service. You will need to download the Zoom app onto your Android/Apple device or the Zoom program onto your computer. Registrants will receive an e-mail with the Zoom meeting id information in the confirmation and reminder e-mail.

Through curbside pick-up, registered patrons can pick up their Upcycled Carton Planter Take & Make kits on Wednesday, April 21, 10:00am-4pm at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library only (1147 Fairfield Woods Road, Fairfield, CT 06825).

*For the safety of all our patrons, we need to be aware of who is joining. We ask that you please use your actual name when joining our events through Zoom.

If the class is full and you do not require any materials, email jstevens@fplct.org for registration.
