TJ Klune's The House in the Cerulean Sea
a place in LGBTQ Literature

Author TJ Klune's novel The House in the Cerulean Sea has been selected for the Town of Fairfield’s 2022 One Book One Town (OBOT). TJ’s book contains many facets. It's a fantasy novel about finding one's place in the world, discovering found family, and it's filled with tenderness, consciousness, wit and humor.

The House in the Cerulean Sea is also a gentle, sweet, LGBTQ love story.

Join us virtually as we specifically explore the LGBTQ aspects of the book.

  • starting off with a brief overview of the history of LGBTQ literature.
  • moving into the gay male love story contained within the pages of TJ's remarkable book.
  • discussing TJ's place in contemporary literature.
  • and what the future of queer lit might look like thanks to books like The House in the Cerulean Sea.

Please join Fairfield Public Library's Philip Bahr for an hour-long celebration of our 2022 One Book One Town selection. We welcome participants who’ve read the book, are in the middle of reading, or are just curious about this magical piece of literature.

You will receive the Zoom link once you’ve registered.

Philip Bahr is Head of Adult Services at Fairfield Public Library in Fairfield, CT. Philip’s spent over four decades reading LGBTQ literature – primarily by and about gay men. His current leisure reading focuses on mysteries where the protagonist and author are LGBTQ, among other favorite genres. When he’s not working or reading, his blog Reel Charlie keeps him busy with film and television reviews – once again primarily from a LGBTQ focus.  He’s thrilled the library selected TJ Klune’s The House in the Cerulean Sea as the 2022 One Book One Town.

This program is co-sponsored by Triangle Community Center in Norwalk, CT.
