Program Description

Description

The Living Parkinson’s book launch will take place on March 7 at the Fairfield Public Library. This special event will feature an author talk and conversation that begins with living proactively with Parkinson’s, but extends to navigating any serious illness, life challenge or unexpected adversity.

Drawing from personal experience, research and advocacy, author Steve Yellen will explore how the strategies used to face Parkinson’s—attitude, education, support, wellness and self-advocacy—can be applied to many of life’s toughest moments. The event will conclude with a book signing. Living Parkinson's is available on Amazon beginning February 24. The author encourages people to buy a copy and bring it in for signature.

The event is open to the public and welcomes people living with Parkinson’s, caregivers, family members and anyone seeking practical insight on resilience, adaptation and living fully in the face of adversity.

About the Author
Steve Yellen is a seasoned technology marketing leader whose professional career has spanned pricing strategy, product marketing and executive leadership across a wide range of technology-driven companies. An engineer by training, Steve holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Connecticut.

Diagnosed with Parkinson’s in his mid-50s, Steve turned to data, research and personal experimentation to understand and manage the disease. Knowing that exercise is the only potential way to slow progression, he made fitness central to his life, training daily and competing in triathlons and obstacle course races (e.g., Spartans) and even racing up the Empire State Building stairs.

Beyond personal health and wellness, Steve is deeply involved in Parkinson’s advocacy and research. Living Parkinson’s shares the strategies and real-life stories that have helped Steve and others live full lives with Parkinson’s. Steve lives in Connecticut and actively promotes the Living Parkinson’s message.

About the Book
Living Parkinson’s is a practical guide grounded in solid research and real-life experience, offering clear strategies for living your best life with the disease. It provides a roadmap anyone can use to take control, find purpose and face Parkinson’s head-on. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach – it’s a resource filled with examples, personal stories, insights from experts and practical tools that you can adapt to build your own plan.

The book emphasizes education, movement, community and purpose—helping readers move beyond a passive mindset and toward a more engaged, resilient approach to living well with Parkinson’s. Proceeds from the book will be donated to Parkinson’s-related charities.
