Description

Please join us for "Visions from France" as performed by the Lions Gate Trio.

The music of France has seen constant transformation. One hundred and fifty years ago, French composer Chausson found a new way to leaven the lush harmonies of the music of his day with his own inner lyricism. A generation later, his friend Gabriel Faure reached farther afield, entwining long melodic threads with distinctly novel harmonies and Renaissance elements. And most recently, the brilliant new vision of Christophe Bertrand—abruptly silenced by his death at 29–dispensed with tonality altogether, creating instead music woven from suspended textures and riveting intensity.

The Lions Gate Trio, the Library's trio-in-residence, features Darrett Adkins on cello, Katie Lansdale on violin, and Florence Millet on piano. Peter Alexander is the musical director.   A reception with light refreshments after the concert offers listeners a chance to meet the musicians.

Soundwaves Concerts are made possible through the generosity of the Friends of the Fairfield Public Library.
