Soundwaves Concert - Lions Gate Trio

The Lions Gate Trio presents a radiant musical program of chamber music, pairing magnificence with mysticism. Brahms's  C Minor trio is universally beloved for its power, poignance  and unforgettable melodies.  Written in his last years, Beethoven wrote exquisite Bagatelles--- telling his publisher they were the best he had written. The Trio interweaves those fleeting masterpieces with improvisatory moments---Quizzical 1970’s-vintage miniatures from the American experimentalist John Cage, whose music invites performers and listeners to seek zen-like inspiration in the moment.

The internationally acclaimed Lions Gate Trio, the Library's trio-in-residence, features Darrett Adkins on cello, Katie Lansdale on violin and Florence Millet on piano. Peter Alexander is the musical director.   A reception with light refreshments after the concert offers listeners a chance to meet the musicians.
