Description
Join us to create a Shibori wall hanging. Shibori is the Japanese term for "tied and bound resist-dyeing techniques," traditionally using indigo dye. Indigo dye, which comes from a plant, is one of the oldest dyes used for coloring fabrics and the one still used today to color blue jeans.
There are 6 major Shibori techniques and this program will focus on the Arashi technique. Arashi is the Japanese term for “storm” and is achieved by winding fabric around a pole and wrapping thread to create a storm-like effect of lines and dashes.
Everyone making a wall hanging must register. There are three sessions for Shibori, this session is for Teens and their Adult only. There is also a Teens only session from 4:30-5:30pm and an Adult only session from 6:30-7:30pm. Please make sure you are signing up for the correct session.
This program uses dye so please be mindful of your clothes and the belongings you bring to this program. Covid-19 safety precautions will be enforced.
