Program Description

Description

What's Cooking Series - A series featuring local chefs. Guest chefs share the back stories behind their cooking lives, the challenges of running a restaurant/food market and talk about a favorite cookbook or recipe.

Join us for a Zoom conversation with our Connecticut neighbor, Chef Jacques Pépin!

Chef Pépin is world-renowned as a chef, host of his revered and popular cooking programs on public television, a respected instructor, and gifted artist. He has authored over 30 cookbooks. He was a longtime friend of Julia Child, and their PBS series Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home won a Daytime Emmy Award. He has been honored with 24 James Beard Foundation Awards, five honorary doctoral degrees, and lifetime achievement awards from American Public Television and the Emmys (2019).

We will be discussing Chef Pépin’s five ingredient holiday meals as well as his newest cookbook, Jacques Pépin Quick & Simple. Cookbooks are available for purchase at the Fairfield University Bookstore. He will address how to prepare a memorable, yet smaller, Holiday event during these times. We will find out how he is spending his time cooking during the pandemic, and learn about his comfort foods and go to recipes.

Our moderator for the evening will be local chef and restaurant owner, Matt Storch. Matt won Chopped on The Food Network and owns Match and Match Burger Lobster.
