Program Description

Description

Pete Seeger’s 100th birthday would be May 3. To celebrate the life of this beloved folk singer and social activist, we will have a Pete Seeger Sing-Along with Fairfield folk singer and former Connecticut State Troubadour Kristen Graves.  “Where Have All the Flowers Gone”, “If I Had a Hammer”, and “Turn, Turn, Turn” are some of his most famous songs. Seeger was also one of the folk singers who popularized the spiritual “We Shall Overcome” as the anthem of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. We will sing a selection of his songs and other popular folk tunes.

Kristen Graves is a folk/pop singer, songwriter and humanitarian. She published her first songs in 2002. Since then she has released nine studio projects and toured nationally and internationally. She has shared stages with Pete Seeger, Harry Belafonte, Peter Yarrow, Noel (Paul) Stookey, Rusted Root, Holly Near, Dar Williams, Guy Davis, Dan Zanes, David Amram, and many more.
