Description

In 1848, the first train comes through Fairfield on the New York and New Haven Railroad. In 1901, German immigrant and inventor Gustave Whitehead reportedly makes his first flight in Fairfield. In 1938, the first section of the Merritt Parkway opens in Fairfield County. Explore the impact of different modes of transportation in the area, establishing a dynamic in which people worked in Bridgeport and lived in Fairfield.
