The public is invited to attend the opening reception for A Bevy of Beauty at the Bruce S. Kershner Gallery, Main Library, from 5:30-7:30pm on Thursday, March 12. The Gallery's latest show features the paintings of Keith Magner, Nathan Rosler, and Rosa Sclafani; the artists will speak at 6:00pm. Light refreshments will be served.
Keith Magner is an avid outdoorsman who resides in Fairfield, where he enjoys the proximity of coastal estuaries, harbors and communities that inspire his plein air work. He developed his skills while studying at both the University of Hartford Art School and Alfred University's School of Art & Design, and has exhibited in juried art shows on both state and national levels. He is an associate artist at Lyme Art Association and a member of the Oil Painters of America. Keith states, "I strive to create work that radiates the beauty around us. Art allows me to unplug and immerse myself in my surroundings."
Nathan Rosler holds a degree with a foundation in graphic design but has recently returned to painting with a renewed focus and maturity shaped by time, distance, and lived experience. He now approaches abstraction with both discipline and openness, blending design sensibility with intuitive, process-driven exploration. Nathan says his work "explores the space between calm and chaos, and the quiet pressure that exists beneath seemingly restrained surfaces."
Rosa Sclafani is a watercolor artist based in Connecticut, specializing in realistic works. Originally from Lima, Peru, Rosa's first introduction to art came from watching her father paint and draw. She has studied folk art painting, has taken classes in oil and watercolor painting, and studied fine arts at various local art institutes. Her art and photography has been exhibited in numerous group and juried shows in Connecticut and New York. Rosa says she draws inspiration from her Peruvian roots, stating "My paintings reflect my emotions and culture. Working with watercolor gives me the freedom to express and capture what I see."
A Bevy of Beauty will be on display from March 5 through May 2, 2026, during regular Library hours.
