Program Description

Description

The public is invited to attend an opening reception for the Kershner Gallery's latest exhibit, Weir Inspired: Works by the Weir Farm Artist Collective, featuring works by 30 area artists from Weir Farm National Historical Park's Artist Collective. The artists from the group will be exhibiting an array of styles, media choices, and subject matter; light refreshments will be served.

Weir Farm National Historical Park is located in Ridgefield and Wilton, CT, and was the former summer home of American Impressionist painter J. Alden Weir, who called the bucolic spot "the Great Good Place." The park focuses on connecting people of all ages to art, nature and conservation and welcomes approximately 35,000 visitors a year who enjoy the stunning landscape, art collections, and access to free tours and art classes.

The Weir Farm Artist Collective, started in 2023, is a collaboration of independent artists following the tradition of creativity within the Weir Farm National Park.  Its purpose is to inform, support, encourage and engage accomplished artists of all mediums to share ideas, opportunities, and technical solutions.  Local artists have the opportunity to connect and share during monthly meetings and "paint-outs."

Weir Inspired: Works by the Weir Farm Artist Collective will be on view from August 2-30, 2025, during regular Main Library hours.
