Regina: Life of a Heroine
Regina Oksenhendler Jacobs survived the Nazi invasion of Poland, and almost 3 years in Auschwitz/Birkenau. She was liberated from Bergen Belsen Concentration camp in 1945, having lost every single person in her large immediate and extended family, other than one sister who had survived the war in the coal mines of Siberia. She went on to live a life of valor, and an incredible example of resilience and morality. This will be her story.
Presenter Adele R. Jacobs is the daughter of two holocaust survivors, Fred and Regina Jacobs, of blessed memory. She was a devoted daughter, is a devoted wife and mother, and a dedicated attorney in this community for the past 40 years. Among many other philanthropic engagements, she is committed to holocaust memory and education, and has served as Chairperson of the State of Connecticut Holocaust commemorations, Federation Holocaust Commemorations, the Town of Fairfield Holocaust Commemoration committee, and is currently the President of Voices of Hope, an organization whose mission is to create a culture of courage to stand up against hatred through Holocaust and Genocide education and remembrance across the State. It is her honor to keep her mother’s memory alive and to share the story of a heroine with the community.
