Program Description

Description

The Fairfield Equity Coalition is an Alumni and current student-led organization that advocates and promotes educational equity within the community. The Equity Exchange Book Club hopes to highlight equity, inclusion, and Anti-Racism in a form that is digestible to children. By utilizing books, activities, and an interactive presentation, Equity Exchange will motivate children
to become advocates within their own community.

Together, we will discuss the book Something Happened in Our Town: A Child's Story About Racial Injustice by Marianne Celano, Marietta Collins, and Ann Hazzard and follow our discussion with an activity. Participants must read the book before the event. Copies will be available for checkout at the Main Library
as follows:

For the July 10th event: Check out the book on Monday, July 3rd and bring it with you the day of the event.

For the July 17th event: Check out the book on Tuesday, July 11th and bring it with you the day of the event.

For children ages 7-10 years old. Registration is required. Please only register for either the event on July 10th OR the event on July 17th as it is the same program offered twice. Children attend independently. Parent or caregiver must remain in the Library during the event. Space is limited. Registration opens on Monday, June 26.
