PURA Public Comment Hearing for United Illuminating Rate Case

The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) is holding two public comment hearings regarding United Illuminating’s (UI) request to amend its rate schedule, proposing a revenue increase of about 7.4%. If approved, the change would raise an average residential customer’s monthly bill by about $24.64. PURA is encouraging public participation and will accept comments from residents, businesses, and other stakeholders who may be affected by the proposed rate changes. Two public comment hearings are scheduled: Monday, March 10, 2025, 5:30 PM at the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road, and Tuesday, March 18, 2025, 12:00 PM via Zoom, where UI will present an overview of the proposal and answer questions. Written comments can be submitted via email on PURA’s website through March 18, 2025, and all submissions will become part of the official record.
