Description

The Bruce S. Kershner Art Gallery Art Committee invites the public to an opening reception for its current show, "Moon Dance," on Thursday, February 23, from 5:30-7:30pm at Main Library.  The show features photography by Steven Labkoff and paintings by Ronnie Gold and Marjorie Sopkin; the artists will be speaking at the reception at 6:00pm.  Light refreshments will be served.

Ronnie Gold received a BFA from the University of Colorado and attended Tyler School of Art in Rome.  A resident of North Stamford, Ronnie's work has won many awards, including the Faber Birren National Color Award. After a successful career designing decorative home fabrics, Ronnie turned to painting full time six years ago.  She uses pastels and paint to create art in an abstract, Expressionist style, and states, "I have recently been drawn to organic forms of nature for inspiration, such as rock formations, minerals and sea creatures."

Steven Labkoff is a physician and a Master Photographer based in Stamford. His photographic works have included aerial-, astral-, time-lapse, and macrophotography.  Favorite subjects include moonrises and other night photography subjects such as the Aurora Borealis and cityscapes. Steve has won silver medals in the 2020 and 2022 International Photography Competitions.

Marjorie Sopkin attended Hartford Art School and Tyler School of Art in Rome, where she received her BFA. She has had a successful career in graphic design and returned to painting full time in 2015.  Her work is in private and corporate collections throughout the United States.  Marjorie says, "The ever-changing colors, atmospheric subtleties, and textural qualities in the sky, sea and earth supply unending inspiration that I present through my own imaginary lens."

"Moon Dance" will be on exhibit from February 18 through April 15, 2023, during regular Main Library hours.
