Program Description

Description

Learn how to compost in your backyard with Master Composters Mary Hogue and Dan Martens from the Sustainable Fairfield Task Force. They will demonstrate the best way to successfully recycle food scraps in your back yard, leaving you with a rich compost that helps to return valuable nutrients to the soil and improve the quality of your garden and lawn. Compost is a natural fertilizer that improves soil aeration and drainage, controls weeds and reduces the need to water.

The Sustainable Fairfield Task Force (SFTF) was formed to encourage community action to help put Fairfield on the path to using clean, renewable energy sources. SFTF creates opportunities for residents to learn how to take control of their energy costs and how to help safeguard the environment.
